• Refreezing creates ice layers. With colder air moving back in this coming week (lows dipping into the single digits and teens), that slushy, saturated snow will refreeze solid. Add in any wintry mix (rain changing to sleet or snow) forecasted for the next few days, and you get layered ice that's tough to shovel and dangerous to walk on. 
• More snow on the way. Forecasts show a clipper system or cold front bringing another 1-3 inches (possibly more in northern CT) soon, followed by potential wintry mixes mid-week. The cycle repeats: accumulation → partial melt → heavier load → refreeze → new snow. Without prompt removal, roofs can sag, ice dams form, and driveways become impassable.
